PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

Things to keep in mind to ensure the measurements are taken correctly

- It will be helpful to have a family member or a friend take the measurements

- Please use flexible tape only, like a tailor’s tape

- All the measurements must be in the same units, whether cm or inches

- You should preferably be wearing base layers while taking measurements, and avoid wearing anything bulky.

STEP 1 - Measure using a tailor's tape

There are two key measurements that you need to take into consideration for figuring out your pants size.

A) High hip - Wrap the tape around your belt line. Keep the tape parallel to the ground, not too loose or too tight.

B) In seam length - Hold a hard bound book between your legs, and then measure from the top edge of the book to the ankle.

STEP 2 - Find your pants size by checking measurements against the size chart provided

- You can check the body size chart provided on our website to see which size is closest to you.

ViaTerra is the only brand offering riding pants with two in-seam lengths for each waist size - Short and Regular. So based on the in-seam measurements you can determine the type of fit for your height.

- If both the measurements do not fall in one particular size, use the in seam length to choose the pants size as waist can be adjusted using the belt-loop system provided.

Remember, each brand has its own body size charts, so do check the chart before you select the size.

How to check if the armour is in the right position and how to make adjustments to ensure the armours stay in place while on the motorcycle?

If you are trying it on at the store, wear it for 5-10 min to get comfortable in it. Keep in mind that the Spencer is designed to work best in the riding posture - so other movements could feel restrictive. So check the fit of the pants on a chair or in a riding position.

STEP 1 - Check armour position

  • The primary fit check has to be around the lower hip and the thighs.
  • For the knee, take a seat and bend the knee. Once bent, ensure the armour is atleast 2 inch over the knee and is covering the sides of the knee equally.
  • We have given a complete belt system to offer maximum adjustability around the waist. This also allows you to add the tailbone armour if you wish to.

STEP 2 - Adjust armour position

In case the pants fit is correct but the knee armour is slightly off, use the cinching mechanism to adjust and bring the armour closer to your body.

  • To do so, first make sure the ladderlock is not on the same line as the webbing.
  • Hold the ladderlock perpendicular to the webbing and simply pull them right or left to loosen or tighten the arms.
  • You also have cinch straps on the hems for adjustment.

Keep in mind that the Spencer is designed to work best in the riding posture - so other movements could feel restrictive.

  • Spencer mesh riding pants are the first to offer multiple inseam lengths of the same waist size. No more slapping or adjusting the armour to compensate for the extra length of the pants.
  • The Spencer mesh riding pants offer unmatched ventilation, comfort and dexterity like no other. Designed for the ride with its pre-curved knees and ergonomically placed stretch panels, the Spencer enables you to move around with ease.
  • With best in class CE Level 2 protection from Sas-Tec Germany and dual layer impact zones with Cordura panels, the Spencer is ready to shield you when required. The Spencer riding pants also come with the option to include tailbone protection.
  • A good fitting riding pants should fit well with no additional adjustability. The FocusFit design of the Spencer offers unmatched fit and comfort allowing the armours to sit closer to the body without causing any discomfort. This is crucial to make sure the armours are in right place during a crash to absorb impact effectively.
  • The Viaterra Spencer Riding Jacket and Pant feature matching 180 degree zipper connectors. This offers improved lumbar protection by holding a wider section of the jacket and pant together preventing them from riding apart during a crash.

Breathable

As I’ve said in the Spencer jacket review, this also is breathable and comfortable in the scorching heat of Vijayawada. Go for it. The protectors feel in place too at the knee.

Viaterra Spencer riding pants review

I have gone through adequate research before buying my first riding pant. I have bought a pair from another indian gear makers, as it was matching with my black-orange jacket. But i didn’t liked the fit and finish, also there was a minor defect in the zip area.

Then finally decided to order the spencer pants from viaterra, though it was few thousands extra than the previous one.
Actually, opted for the Munro pants but it was unavailable for quite few months. And i had a ride coming up. So went for the spencer pant.
Some mishap happened with the courier service and the package was stuck in kolkata. Finally I collected it form the courier warehouse.

And i tried it the very next day. The quality was superb. Fully ventilated and lightweight in general. The fit was optimum as the velcro straps can be ajdusted along the legs. Tri-armour placements were very strategic and fits well. After some time, you will forget that you are carrying some protective armours over your legs. Worth the money.
I have done quite a few trips, trail ridings and still it is running strong.
Overall, loved it.
So, if someone is thinking this Viaterra Spencer pants as an option, I would recommend to confirm it. You will not regret.

Perfect Mesh pants

NO OTHER PANT WOULD MATCH THE SPENCER. My 6th product from viaterra. Purchased for my Spiti ride. Not a single moment felt it was added expense or any discomfort. Well ventilated. Zippers are superb. Waist belt makes life easy. Wanted to get Munro to match my jackets. But last minut decided to get these... no regrets whatsoever.

Spencer - Mesh Riding Pants

I had heard of Viaterra through the grapevines of riding mates some years back, so well came 2020 i had purchased an ADV motorcycle., it was time to suit up...

First purchase of a Viaterra product was their Grid Gloves then Pod 22, 2nd Skin Balaclava, roost Gloves, they are far far ahead of design, materials used, comfort & ease of use, I may be biased 😊

It was now 2022 still unable to decide which riding pant to purchase, I looked at the competition tried a few brands the fit & feel was not comfy for me at least..., was about to purchase Viaterra Monro Pant, the long wait time & size availability was not ideal

Then Bam out of the blue they first launched Spencer Jacket & later on the Spencer riding Pant

As the riding season on 2022 was about to start. took a plunge & ordered the Spencer riding pant via their website

What I like & why I chose about the Spencer riding pant – I am 5.4” – 7 months in & after have ridding over 8000 kms & thorough all kinds of weather with these pants..

•,Their design choice of providing ‘In – Seam’ length of Short & Regular was a huge selling point, along with size exchange & risk-free trail
•,After ordering through the website & got an email to send my size details & a call from Ajinkya he is a genie shared the titbits on correct sizing & pant was delivered ..
•,They are like track pants, comfortable & light weight, pre curved knee fabric for the armour’s placement are just wow, provided the buckle is tighten up & the armour stays where it should be

What can be improved

•,On Buckle design: If you are into saddling or when if you have a large meal 😊
the armour’s Move Lower if the buckle is not tightened up at the hip & near Knee armours, one can tighten only so much before it becomes “a bit” uncomfortable
•,The Knee armours will get harder in cold temps (Knee armours are T+ only) & it rubs against the Knee skin if the buckle is not tightened up, not a big deal, but hey it's persistent, my solution was to put a 3mm thin soft patch wool of behind Knee armour, issue has not come back ..
•,Just keep in mind if one purchases an ADV Boots & MX boots the “Pant will be inside the boots”

It’s like a track pant just fantastic.., go for it..

Happy safe riding, Cheers
Jay

Spencer - Mesh Riding Pants

One of the best riding pants for all seasons in India, I am blown away by the quality and the customer service provided. Very light and breathable, I should have switched from riding jeans to these much earlier!
