The 4-way stretch fabric allows for maximum flexibility and movement, so you can wear the base layers comfortably under the riding jacker/ pants during long rides. The breathable fabric also allows for air to circulate, keeping you cool and comfortable.

Flat lock seams for added strength & durability

Flatlock seams are created by overlapping two pieces of fabric and then sewing them together, which results in a strong, durable and comfortable seam that lies flat against the skin. This construction method makes the ViaTerra 2nd skin base layers more comfortable to wear, as there are no raised or irritating seams against the skin. Additionally, flatlock seams also reduce stress along the seams, which helps to prevent the base layers from stretching out of shape or becoming damaged over time, making it more durable.

Comfort piping to reduce chafing on the skin

The 2nd Skin Base Layers from ViaTerra are constructed with soft piping on all seams, which provides added comfort during long days in the saddle. This means that the edges of the seams have a soft material applied to them, which reduces irritation and chafing on the skin, making it more comfortable for the rider to wear for extended periods of time.

Crafted using a lightweight, 4-way stretch poly-spandex knit, the 2nd Skin Bottom is designed to feel like well, second skin. It offers high breathability, excellent moisture management, and all-day comfort under any riding pant. Flatlock seams and tagless construction reduce chafing, even during extended use.

Odour control

The hydrophobic yarns wick away sweat as soon as it forms, keeping you dry and comfortable through long rides. Treated with Polygiene anti-odour tech, it prevents bacterial build-up and stays fresher for longer - ideal for multi-day trips or everyday commutes.

Comfort & Fit

With a snug, pre-curved silhouette, the 2nd Skin moves with your body - no folding, pinching, or sagging. The ergonomic cut supports the touring posture, while a soft waistband and ankle cuffs hold everything securely in place without pressure.

Quick dry

The open-knit structure allows heat and humidity to escape efficiently, making this the go-to layer for summer and tropical riding. It works in sync with mesh riding pants to deliver airflow directly to your skin.

Wash, care and storage

Wash separately in cold water before first use.
Always turn the base layer inside out before washing to protect the outer fabric and stitching.
Hand wash with mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, or stain removers.
If there are stains which you are not able to remove using a damp cloth, use a soft bristled brush soaked in a mild pH neutral soap and rinse off using cold water. Please note that using the brush could lead to piling which will not be covered under warranty.
Do not wring. Gently drip dry in a ventilated, shaded area - keep away from direct sunlight or heat.
Do not tumble dry, dry clean, or iron.
Store flat or folded in a cool, dry place. Avoid prolonged exposure to sun or heat sources.
Dry-cleaning or using a clothes dryers will void the warranty as this will damage the special coatings that the fabric has.

Things to Remember

The 2nd Skin Base Layer is designed to fit close to the body for maximum moisture-wicking and thermal regulation - without restricting your movement on or off the bike.
It might feel snug at first, but give it a couple of rides to mould to your body. Avoid layering underneath to let it do its job efficiently.
Always air it out/ clean it after each ride to prevent sweat buildup and odour.
Fold flat and avoid stuffing into tight spaces to maintain the fabric’s stretch and long-term comfort.
