Why SAS-TEC CE Level 2 Armour?

  • Made from Viscoelastic Foam with Memory effect i.e. after an impact or any kind of deformation the foam (protector) returns to its original shape quickly
  • Multi Impact Complaint - Unlike many other dampening materials (such as styrofoam (EPS), silicone or foam of inferior quality), SAS-TEC armours are multi impact compliant. So protectors keep full functional capability even when the same area is affected repeatedly with high pressure or impact.
  • Excellent Residual Forces - The CE-approved protectors of SAS-TEC remain up to 50 per cent below the legal values of the norm EN 1621.
  • Lightweight - Hard shell protectors or materials containing silicone are considerably more heavy which reduces the wearing comfort. The density of our SAS-TEC foam is about 280 g/l, hard shells in contrast have an average density of 1050 g/l.
  • Adaptive Absorption - The air which is embedded in the protector cells provoke a progressive absorption i.e. remains soft in case of slowly increasing forces, however when it comes to a fast heavy impact the resistance of the foam grows with increasing speed.
  • Quick Impulse response - Contrary to hard shell protectors, styrofoam damper or many other dampening materials, SAS-TEC visco-elastic foam reacts promptly and without any time delay even to minor impacts. The energy absorption goes almost linear, which keeps the impact forces to the human body at a low level.
  • Long product life - Some manufacturers of body protection only indicate a product life of two to three years for their articles, whereas SAS-TEC armour comes with a life expectancy of ten years.
  • Hand washable - The cell structure of SAS-TEC visco-elastic material keeps water from entering i.e. the water absorption is below one per cent. Therefore the protectors can be hand washed without any issues.

Munro custom riding pants is tailor made to your measurements and is not returnable or refundable.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Body armours/ protectors must always be removed before starting the washing process

CLEAN & CARE:

  • For dirt and stains, clean with a soft-bristled brush and lukewarm water (DO NOT USE HOT WATER)
  • DO NOT allow your jacket to come in contact with solvents (do not use fabric softener!), fuel, or cleaning agents.
  • DO NOT use any kind of CHEMICAL or ALCOHOL-BASED product. For longer life of the fabric, we recommend hand washing the jacket using mild detergent
  • Do not place your jacket near, or come in contact with a direct heat source
  • Dry the jacket on a hanger away from direct sunlight where there is good ventilation.
  • Zippers need to be cleaned and lubricated regularly - you can use vaseline or candle wax

STORAGE:

  • Make sure your riding pants are completely dry before you store it on a hanger.
  • If stored wet or in a non-ventilated area as it allows mildew to grow on the fabric causing discoloration and damage
  • Do not store the riding pants in air-tight plastic bags

Finally something that fits!

I tried many different models and sizes from 6-7 different brands, both Indian and imported - but since I'm thin and tall (6'2) either they were loose from the waist or too short with incorrectly positioned armour so I decided to try the Munro. I feel they're about 4-5k more expensive than standard sized store bought pants with equivalent features, but if a pair doesn't fit and protect you well then what's the point of saving that cash! The customer rep assigned to my order was in touch consistently and took me through the entire process of measurements and apprised me of unforeseen delays due to sourcing tail-bone armour during peak holiday season.

The pant itself feels great - the material, quality of zips, generous zip and velcro for your boots and overall feel and comfort is top notch! The thigh pockets are very useful too and easy to open and close with gloves on, say when you are refuelling and need to access your phone etc.

Even though these are not winter pants - In Delhi's biting cold there's enough space to wear a thermal inner, but my only feedback is that while the softer fabric on the seat and crotch area increases comfort and is a good idea, it also lets air in, though I'm sure it'll be great in summer. While it doesn't affect usage, the pants could use a better quality belt and buckle too.

All things considered, if you need a customised pair of pants - go for it!

Truely Custom Made, Viaterra efforts are much Appriciated

I was looking for a Riding pant that fits my requirement like - Broder on the hips, Tapers down narrowly, Wide quality armors that stays in their slots, flexible around scrotal areas that gives one a freedom of/on over a big bike, Pants that should not sit on the boots and does not slide down while in movement, Mesh for our weathers, conveniently placed pockets for a quick and easy removal while seated on a bike --- Yes a long list !!!, and I got it all covered from Viateraa when they did stich one for me. Really well done and thank you for creating a custom apparel-built options in your line of services.
The only recommendation I would suggest is to give options for a softer buckles instead of a hard ones. Longer pockets that can be placed on the side of a hipe instead on the front, A tail bone holder can be of a better quality.

Could have been perfect, but design improvements are needed.

I waited until I rode 5k+ km to write a review to understand the product better. This is a comfortable pair of riding pants. The usage of SAS-TEC armour inserts adds to that comfort factor. Using Cordura in the high abrasion zones will probably get these an "AA" rating if CE tested. The usage of mesh and elastic material in appropriate zones makes it the perfect balance of comfort and protection. But they dropped the ball in three places.

1. The part above the knee was incorrectly sized and cut, resulting in excess material above the accordion stretch panels. This makes it look slightly weird but doesn't affect functionality or comfort.

2. The Velcro placement and usage have to be improved a lot. The girth adjustment for the boot part uses a regular 1-inch velcro with minimal bonding area. The hook and loop parts are stitched perpendicular, so the bonding patches are only one square inch each. This means the hold is very weak, and that part comes apart with minimal force. Also, the dirt flap over the zippers has velcro patches to affix them, but the positioning and quantity of Velcro are so bad that it looks ugly.

3. This is a serious oversight. They should have used auto-locking zippers for the fly. That is just common sense. What made Viaterra use normal zippers for the fly of these pants? They frequently slide down when we move around on our motorcycles.

To summarize, the otherwise excellent riding pants are marred by the improper use of Velcro and a nonsensical oversight. Other usability improvements like deepening the thigh pockets to fit larger mobile phones, a ring/loop for hanging key chains, a better nylon belt and a more robust buckle could elevate the quality further.

Perfect riding pants!

Its the best custom tailored riding pants period available in India. But in case of knit picking, the pant pockets on the thighs are not the right place, quite uncomfortable if anything is kept in and useless. i dont mind it as its not a deal breaker.
